Project: NH Line
PI: Bill Peterson
Vessel: RV Elakha
Purpose:
* Continue the NH Line time series that addresses seasonal and interannual variation in cross-shelf zooplankton and krill species composition, biomass, growth and egg production.
* Sampling stations are 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 nautical miles from shore along the NH Line (44 deg 39.1 min N).
* The minimum effort, necessary when the sea-state is too rough, is a trip only out to NH05.
Sampling:
* Cruises are about 9 hrs duration and are scheduled twice monthly throughout the year.
* Vertical CTD casts (275m max.) and net tows (100 m max.) are done at each station along with surface chlorophyll and nutrients.
Instruments:
* SBE19 CTD with fluorometer (ECO-FL) and dissolved oxygen sensor (SBE 43)
* 0.5 m diameter plankton net with 202 um mesh
* 0.6 m diameter bongo nets with 333 um mesh
