April 20 to 27 SSNERR cruise (McArthur)
* Pre-upwelling baseline characterization of the continental shelf
Objectives:
• Leg I / Apr 20-24. Document the dissolved oxygen levels in shallow and deep waters along the Oregon continental shelf from Astoria to Cape Blanco prior to development of the upwelling season
• Leg II / Apr 24-27. Collect water samples and zooplankton tows to characterize the physical and biotic links between Coos Bay and the nearshore Pacific Ocean
On-Board Sampling and Measurements:
• Conductivity-Temperature-Depth casts with Dissolved Oxygen sensor (ca. 150-250 m depth profiles)
• Niskin bottle grabs from 3-5 depths (measure temp, cond, sal, DO, fluorescence, Chl a, DIN)
• Zoolplankton / Phytoplankton net samples (oblique tows in surface water for collection of invertebrate larvae and phytoplankton communities)
